Dhikr which means remembrance, usually translates to remembrance of Allah (dhikr Ullah) are short verses or duas that are uttered silently or aloud to gain rewards.

For everything there is a polish, and the polish for the heart is the dhikr (remembrance) of Allah – Abu Dardaa

There are a lot of short duas that you can recite to accumulate rewards for the hereafter, some carry more weight than others on the scales, below you’ll find a list of 20 dhikr with exceptional rewards and the different times you can recite them.

There is also a handy download with each dua it is written phonetically in English (non-arabic tongues can easily read and memorise it), with its meaning, and the reward for the believer who recites. The source is also included with each dhikr.

The Angels keep on writing good deeds when one recites this during wudhu

The Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam said ‘When one of you performs wudhu he should recite Bismillahi wa’l Hamdu lillahi (because) for as long as the wudhu remains valid the Angels (who record/write all our deeds) will keep on writing good deeds (for you).

Paradise becomes obligatory for the one who recites the following

I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion and with Muhammad (saw) as my Prophet.

Abu Dawud

Enter Paradise through a special door

There is no power or might except (by) Allah.

Whoever recites the following, Allah (swt) will grant them reward equal to all the believers in this world

O Allah! Forgive me and the believing men and women and the muslim men and women.

At-Tabaraani

Whoever says this one hundred times in a day nobody will be able to do a better deed except the one who does more than he

None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Alone Who has no partners,to Him belongs Dominion and to Him belong all the Praises, and He has power over all things (i.e. Omnipotent).

Bukhari

Multiply the virtues of worship/ibadah

The reward of Salah (Prayers) is multiplied 70 times if a Miswaak was used before it.

Ahmad and Baihaqi

Praise and reward for 6 hours of ibadah

Allah is free from imperfection and I begin with His praise, as many times as the number of His creatures, in accordance with His Good Pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne and equal to the ink that may be used in recording the words (for His Praise).

Sahih Muslim

One verse equal to over 1000 verses

He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing.

هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi

All sins forgiven

Recite this 100 times in a day and Allah (swt) will forgive you your sins even if they are equal to the foam of the sea.

Allah is free from imperfection and His is the praise. One hundred times a day.

سُبحَانَ اللّهِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ

Bukhari

A Surah which protects one from the Torment of the Grave

Whoever reads Surah al-mulk every night, Allah will protect him from the torment of the grave.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Masud

40 Million Good Deeds!

Just recite this dua 10 times to get 40,000,000 million good deeds.

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ إِلَهًا وَاحِدًا أَحَدًا صَمَدًا لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ صَاحِبَةً وَلاَ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ

I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, Who is Alone, Who has no partner. The One God, only One, Independent, Who has not taken a wife nor children, and there is none co-equal with Him.

At-Tabaraani

Equal to reciting the entire Quran in one night

Surah Ikhlas is worth a third of the Quran so if you read it thrice in one night it’s as if you’ve read the entire Quran.

قُلْ هُوَ اللَّـهُ أَحَدٌ ﴿١﴾ اللَّـهُ الصَّمَدُ ﴿٢﴾ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ﴿٣﴾ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ

Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him.

Quran 112

The beloved will intercede for you!

Recite the following 10 times in the morning and evening and the Prophet (saw) will intercede for you in the Day of Judgment.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

O Allah! May Thy beneficence be on Muhammad and on the House of Muhammad.

Dua to Open the doors of Heavens

اللّهُ أكبرُ كَبيِرَا وَالحَمدُ لِلّهِ كَثِيرا وَ سُبحَان اللّهِ بُكرَةً وَأصْيِلا

Allah is the Greatest above everything else, and All Praise is for Allah abundantly, and Glory be to Allah in the morning and evening.

Glory be to Allah, The Supreme, and Praise Him.

Rewards of performing Salah all night

One who performs Isha prayer in congregation, is as if he has performed Salah for half of the night. And one who
performs the Fajr prayer in congregation, is as if he has performed Salat the whole night.

So much reward

Earn so much reward that it takes the angels 1000 days to record it!

جَزَى اللَّهُ عَنَّا مُحَمَّدً مَّا هُوَ اَهْلُه

O Allah! Give reward to our beloved Muhammad (saw) the reward which is benefitting as he deserves.

A Phrase that Comes with Rewards in the MILLIONS

Whoever enters a market and says:

لا إلهَ إلَّا الله وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيكَلَهُ لَهُ الْمُلك وَلهُ الحَمْد يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَ هُوَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيءٍ قَدِير

There is nothing worthy of worship but Allah, He is alone without partner, to Him belongs the dominion and the praise, he causes life and death and He is the Living One and will never die. In His Hand is all good, and He is over all things capable.

Allah will write for him a million good deeds, erase a million of his bad deeds and build for him a house in Jannah.

Tirmidhi

Become one of the people of Paradise by saying

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لا إِلَهَ إِلا أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَمَا اسْتَطَعْتُ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّهُ لا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلا أَنْتَ

O Allah! You are my Lord! None has the right to be worshipped but You. You created me and I am Your slave, and I am faithful to my covenant and my promise as much as I can. I seek refuge with You from all the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You all the blessings You have bestowed upon me, and I confess to You all my sins. So I entreat You to forgive my sins, for nobody can forgive sins except You.

Nothing will stand between you and paradise except death if you read Ayat ul – Kursi after the five obligatory prayers

اللَّـهُ لا إِلـٰهَ إِلّا هُوَ الحَيُّ القَيّومُ ۚ لا تَأخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلا نَومٌ ۚ لَهُ ما فِي السَّماواتِ وَما فِي الأَرضِ ۗ مَن ذَا الَّذي يَشفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلّا بِإِذنِهِ ۚ يَعلَمُ ما بَينَ أَيديهِم وَما خَلفَهُم ۖ وَلا يُحيطونَ بِشَيءٍ مِن عِلمِهِ إِلّا بِما شاءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرسِيُّهُ السَّماواتِ وَالأَرضَ ۖ وَلا يَئودُهُ حِفظُهُما ۚ وَهُوَ العَلِيُّ العَظيمُ

Allah! There is no god but He the Living, The Self subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him Nor Sleep. His are all things In the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede In His presence except As he permitteth? He knoweth What (appeareth to His creatures As) Before or After or Behind them.Nor shall they compass Aught of his knowledge Except as He willeth. His throne doth extend Over the heavens And on earth, and He feeleth No fatigue in
guarding And preserving them, For He is the Most High. The Supreme (in glory).

Quran 2:255
