I’ve got some time off from work, so I decided to create lots of lovely Islamic art for kids to colour in, you’ll find very nice Islamic patterns which are simple and also complex, I’ve also included mosques and other types of Islamic art for kids. Just pick the ones that you like, click on the download button next to it and print, simple as that!

Islamic art is very different to those found in Europe. Art in Islam is dominated by extravagant geometric designs usually with patterns, colour, texture and calligraphy. Islamic art is different because it is not purely decorative but it has a deeper meaning usually a spiritual one, one that reminds the viewer of God.
From an early age Muslim children are taught to avoid drawing humans or animals or anything that has life because it isn’t allowed for more than one reason but primarily because a hadith states that it isn’t allowed.
Calligraphy has great importance in Islam as the Quran and other Islamic scriptures are written in calligraphy. Through skilled use of needed tools such as a compass and a ruler beautiful and harmonious combinations of colour and designs can be achieved, examples of these can be seen in display in many parts of the World even till this day.
It is also worth a mention that earlier Muslims created art not only for viewing but for the sake of obeying the Prophet (saw), as all his commands and recommendations where obeyed fully.
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Allah likes that when you do anything, you do it excellently.” Sahih Muslim
With all that and more in mind, I’ve already mentioned before that I have created loads of Islamic art for kids, now it is time for you to download, print and use it as colouring in pages for your children.
